“Wooder Manor is a perfect antidote to the stress of modern life. Nestling in a picturesque valley in Dartmoor National Park - a patchwork of small fields, hedgerows, stonewalls, woodland, and granite tors. The neighbouring farmland is in organic higher level stewardship. Animal lovers and birdwatchers love it here. Off road parking, bike & canoe storage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmfW_vwvbd8”

Cottages in picturesque valley in Dartmoor National Park, a level 1/2 mile walk from the world famous village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor where the world famous Widecombe Fair dating back to 1850 still takes place every year.

Wooder Manor is an ideal central location for touring Devon and exploring Dartmoor. Walkers are spoilt for choice with walks to suit everyone starting from the doorstep, and it is just a leisurely stroll to a hike on the moors.

There are good opportunities for horse riding, cycling, canoeing, fishing, golf, painting and bird watching. Animal lovers and birdwatchers love it here. Most of our visitors also take a keen interest in the local archaeology.

Dartmoor is rich in prehistoric remains with the medieval settlements at Hound Tor and Grimspound being very good examples and at Haytor the granite tramway is still clearly visible.

Guests also enjoy the folklore and legends for which Dartmoor is renowned -Jay's grave, hairy hands, the Hounds of the Baskervilles to name but a few...

Places to visit include Castle Drogo, Buckland Abbey, Lydford Gorge, Saltram House, Woodlands Leisure Park, Penny Well Farm, Go Ape, Becky Falls and Dart Valley Railway.

Widecombe-in-the-Moor village has a church known as 'the Cathedral of the Moor', a post office, National Trust information centre, gift shops, cafes, pubs, tennis courts, children's play area and riding stables.

The cottages and converted coachhouse sleeping 2/4 and 4/6 are clean and well equipped with central heating and a laundry room. Two properties are on the ground floor and Lower Hameldown has a wheel-in shower. Gardens and easy off-road parking, bike and canoe storage.

Open all year. Short breaks available.
