About Devon Farms - Holiday Cottages & Bed And Breakfast Accommodation

Devon Farms was set up in 1989 by a group of like-minded farmers who knew that they had something special to offer visitors to the South West. They wanted to promote not only their own holiday accommodation but also their way of life, environment and Devon as a whole to a wider audience.

The group formed a co-operative and called it simply "Devon Farms" with the criteria that all members must be a working farm and their accommodation must be formally inspected by either Visit England or the AA.       A brochure was produced, more visitors came to stay and new member farms continued to join. As a co-operative, Devon Farms is run, promoted and managed entirely by the farm owners to ensure its integrity. There have been many changes in farming over these years, but the warm personal welcome and hospitality that is extended to you when you arrive on a Devon Farm certainly hasn't changed.

The properties are of infinite variety covering every type of location, but what members do have in common is a passionate commitment to offering their visitors a unique and authentic experience. They have a wealth of knowledge on their region which they are happy to share and so can offer the best advice and ideas for their visitors to ensure their stay is a memorable one.

Whatever you are looking for our range of properties has something to suit everyone. From large country estates steeped in history, to recently converted barns and stables, traditional working farms where you can see the farmer going about his daily life or quaint small holdings in spectacular rural surroundings. While some farms welcome your participation to help feed the lambs and collect the eggs, others offer you a unique chance to see cows being milked in parlours as well as by robots! You may even be lucky and experience the miracle of birth with lambs, calves or pigs being born, or chicks cracking through their shells.
