“Two charming and beamy converted barns, brimming with character, set in a quiet secluded valley with views across rolling countryside. Just six miles from the seaside, The Stables sleeps four, and The Old Granary is a cosy treat for two. Short breaks available for most of the year.”

Lower Collaton Farm is a traditional old Devonshire farmhouse, dating back to Domesday, nestled in a peaceful secluded valley just outside Blackawton, only six miles from Dartmouth, Totnes, Kingsbridge and award winning local beaches such as Blackpool Sands. It is an ideal base for coastal and moorland walking, and for visiting the many local gardens such as Agatha Christie’s Greenway and the D’Oyley Carte’s Collaton Fishacre, (both National Trust). Foodies will enjoy the fish at Mitch Tonks’ famous Sea Horse restaurant in Dartmouth. There are many more fine eating places to try close by!

"Gorgeous village, green fields, starry skies!" The village of Blackawton has just been included in the Sunday Times" top 50 best rural places to live in Britain, surprisingly one of only three villages in Devon. "It's like Ambridge without the melodrama: farms ring a village centre that has a pub, a classy restaurant, a pretty church, a primary school and a post office run by volunteers...An everyday story of (genuine) country folk".

Lower Collaton is a small farm, and apart from the hens in the yard Rosie and James have a very small flock of pedigree Shetland sheep. They are particularly friendly, and guests are welcome to be introduced at closer quarters. Two of the old barns have been skilfully converted into comfortable and characterful holiday accommodation.

The Stables, which sleeps four, has an upside down layout like The Byre, with open plan on the first floor and double and twin bedrooms plus bathroom below. The ancient beams are exposed, giving the cottage lots of character. There is an outside seating and bbq area and a further guests area to the rear. It is available from Easter to the end of September.

Tucked into the opposite side of the courtyard is The Old Granary, a delightful and charming cosy cottage for just two. With maple floor and beamed ceiling, the downstairs bedroom has an adjacent wetroom. Up the winding stairs is the kitchen and living area. Outside is a pretty little garden. It’s available throughout the year, and for short breaks out of season.
