Hollacombe Farm
Self Catering accommodation near Lynton
The holiday accommodation is a traditional "linhay". These were originally built as cattle accommodation, but of course ours is now a very well-appointed 2 bedroom cottage with full CH and a wood-burning stove.
Downstairs there is a porch and cloakroom with WC and wash-basin, and a large open-plan lounge and kitchen/dining area. The kitchen is very well-equipped (including a washing machine) and has ample work tops and cupboards. You can also enjoy our own spring water "on-tap".
The lounge has a Free-Sat TV, DVD player, WIFI and double futon.
The are 2 bedrooms, one double and one with 2 single beds. Each has its own ensuite shower, WC and wash-basin, and there are great views.
Outside there is a BBQ and swings and a slide for the children.
Dogs by prior arrangement and only from Sept to April.
You are welcomed to bring your horse, free grazing is available.
There has been a farm at Hollacombe since Anglo-Saxon times and we like to maintain traditional links by keeping Exmoor Horn sheep and "Red Ruby" Devon cattle, both local breeds.
Guests are welcome to get involved with the various farm activities, such as lambing and feeding and collecting eggs. We now have 8 battery hens from the Hen Welfare Trust and they are now enjoying their freedom with our other free range hens.
We are also proud of our wildlife trail and hide which the Devon Wildlife Trust helped design. We have received a Silver Award from them for our work for the benefit of Devons's wildlife and natural environment. We have put up dor-mouse boxes around the farm.
The Red Linhay is environmental friendly having solar panels, a heat pump and wood from our hedging for the woodburner.
Just 4 miles from the coast at Combe Martin, we are only a short distance from the surfing at Woolacombe and Croyde. We are also ideally placed for those wanting to explore Exmoor and North Devon. Lynton & Barnstaple railway close by at Woody Bay station, also close by is Lorna Doone country.
In addition, we are just 1/2 mile from a well-run family pub with a good play area.
Red Deer can be seen from our hide. Badgers and foxes have been seen below the Linhay.
Exmoor National Park is now an International Dark Sky Reserve. Experience the thrill of dark skies full of stars at Hollacombe.
