Fursdon

Self Catering accommodation near Exeter

“Fursdon offers a unique chance to stay on one of Devon’s oldest family estates in the heart of Devon, high above the Exe valley, yet only ½ hour from the cathedral city of Exeter. Friendly ponies, sheep and chickens graze the small paddocks surrounding the house.”

Fursdon is an ideal holiday destination if you are looking for a beautiful, peaceful home from which to explore Devon. Come, at any time of year, for a short break to re-charge your batteries, or stay for longer and really unwind. The Park and Garden Wings have been awarded the prestigious Gold Award by VisitEngland and we have just added Fursdon Cottage, awarded 5 stars,a newly refurbished Victorian cottage with a stylish and contemporary finish, yet retaining its beamed and characterful interior.

The two self-contained, totally private wings of a historic country house have the style of past eras and the comfort of 21st century living. Both wings have been creatively furnished and decorated. The Park Wing (sleeps 6) has some large rooms with magnificent views over the Fursdon estate. The Garden Wing (sleeps 3) feels more like a cottage and has views of the garden and the cobbled courtyard.
Fursdon Cottage sleeps 5/6 and is suitable for couples or families. We welcome dogs in the Cottage, too, though unfortunately not in the apartments. It has its own enclosed garden with a terrace right at the top enjoying spectacular and far reaching views as far as Dartmoor.

Enjoy the tranquillity of Fursdon where the same family has lived for more than seven hundred and fifty years. Explore the farm and country walks (with notes on plants and wildlife), find a grassy bank in the garden and settle down with a book. But if you want more excitement, Fursdon is only half an hour from the cultural centre of Exeter and close to many other facilities for rural or urban pursuits. In the summer enjoy a guided tour of the manor house and tea in the Coach Hall tea room.
